Basketball Recap: Pineview Christian Takes a Loss

If Pineview Christian was riding high fresh off their 52-27 takedown of Marshall Christian Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pineview Christian Warriors were dealt a 59-29 loss at the hands of the Glen Iris Baptist Swordsmen on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Swordsmen are ranked 90th).

Pineview Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Baylee Grace Self and Morgan Baker. Self posted 12 points, while Baker had five points.

Glen Iris Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanie Saruse led the charge by putting up 28 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Saruse has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Rebekah Everett was another key player, earning 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Pineview Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Glen Iris Baptist, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Glen Iris Baptist beat Pineview Christian by a score of 59-29 later that day.
