Softball Recap: Colfax Bulldogs vs. Freeman Scotties
Colfax had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-9 to make it four. They lost 17-2 to the Freeman Scotties. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scotties this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Tuesday.
Colfax saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Huntley, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
As for Freeman, the win keeps they at an undefeated 18-0. Considering they have won 14 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Freeman's side, Kaylee Ripke made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Ripke has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Mckenna Finley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Chloe Adams, who went 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
While Colfax had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
