Football Game Preview: South Sumter Raiders vs. Eastside Rams + Official Tickets

After each having a week off, the South Sumter Raiders and the Eastside Rams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Sumter is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, South Sumter didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Marion, but they still walked away with a 24-19 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Raiders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Colts are ranked 310th).

South Sumter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Timothy Gaynor out in front who rushed for 95 yards and one score.

Another reason for the win was South Sumter's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. North Marion's QB won't forget Landon Marshall anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Colts' side was Kiwanis Cope, who picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Eastside narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Dunnellon 16-14.

South Sumter's record now sits at 5-1. As for Eastside, their record is now 4-2.

South Sumter strolled past Eastside when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a score of 21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
