Basketball Game Preview: Willcox Cowboys vs. Bisbee Pumas

The Willcox Cowboys are taking a road trip to take on the Bisbee Pumas at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Willcox has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.

Willcox can't be too worried about heading out to take on Bisbee: they just beat Tombstone at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Willcox came out on top in a nail-biter against Tombstone on Tuesday, sneaking past 42-40.

Meanwhile, Bisbee posted their biggest win since December 3, 2024 on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Valley Union 54-21.

Bisbee's win came from a few key players Willcox will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alyssa Lopez, who posted 17 points and three steals. Nicole Ceja was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Bisbee's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Willcox, their record now sits at 13-5.

Everything went Willcox's way against Bisbee in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Willcox made off with a 50-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willcox since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
