David Wright looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Vista del Lago's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Shane Hargraves, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Hargraves has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out McClatchy 6-5.
The team relied heavily on Mason Zobel, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Caleb Peck, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
West Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McClatchy only posted a batting average of .276.
West Park's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Vista del Lago, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Vista del Lago beat West Park 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Vista del Lago repeat their success, or does West Park has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
