Softball Recap: Holy Names Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Holy Names Academy waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Eastside Catholic Crusaders. That's two games straight that Holy Names Academy has won by exactly five runs.

Hazel Schaedig tossed a big game, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lee Smedstad, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Fiona Silk also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Holy Names Academy's record is now 5-6-1. As for Eastside Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Holy Names Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Seattle Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eastside Catholic will square off against rival Roosevelt at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
