Basketball Recap: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Flagler Panthers

The Kit Carson Wildcats had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Flagler with a 47-41 win on Tuesday. The win was just what Kit Carson needed coming off of a 65-35 defeat in their prior match.

Kit Carson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keaton Marriott led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marriott has scored all season. Josiah Irwin was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds.

Flagler's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Hill, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Owen Witt, who scored five points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Flagler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Kit Carson's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Flagler, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Kit Carson will head out on the road to face off against the Wolverines at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Cheraw is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Flagler, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hi-Plains focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday.
