Preview: Bellefontaine Chieftains vs. Wapakoneta Redskins
Bellefontaine is 1-7 against Wapakoneta since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bellefontaine Chieftains will head out on the road to take on the Wapakoneta Redskins at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Bellefontaine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Saturday.
Even though Bellefontaine has not done well against Tecumseh recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Bellefontaine managed a 44-39 victory over Tecumseh. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bellefontaine.
Quinlan Zedeker and Lexi Robinson were among the main playmakers for Bellefontaine as the former scored 14 points along with three steals and the latter scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Tiffany Boop was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Wapakoneta suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. Their tough 50-27 loss to Shawnee might stick with them for a while. Wapakoneta has struggled against Shawnee recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Bellefontaine is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Wapakoneta, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Bellefontaine was able to grind out a solid win over Wapakoneta in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 49-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bellefontaine since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
