Preview: Life Waxahachie Mustangs vs. Alvarado Indians
The Life Waxahachie Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alvarado Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
Life Waxahachie pushed their score all the way to 51 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 68-51 to China Spring. While losing is never fun, Life Waxahachie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 826th, while China Spring is ranked 108th).
Life Waxahachie's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kordell Berry, who rushed for 270 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and James Hicks who rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Hicks really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.
Meanwhile, Alvarado had to suffer through a rough 34-7 loss at the hands of Stephenville. Alvarado was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Life Waxahachie's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. As for Alvarado, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Life Waxahachie took a serious blow against Alvarado when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 79-35. Thankfully for Life Waxahachie, Jayden Bridgewater (who rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
