Preview: Walker Wildcats vs. Dutchtown Griffins
The Walker Wildcats will be playing at home against the Dutchtown Griffins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Walker will be looking to keep their 32-game home win streak alive.
In what's become a running theme this season, Walker gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Zachary 88-45 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Walker has posted since December 19, 2023.
Walker had a senior duo take command as Kennedi Ard scored 25 points along with three steals and Jamiya Vann scored 19 points along with seven steals and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ard has scored all season. Ray?Onna Sterling was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Dutchtown ended up a good deal behind Parkview Baptist on Thursday and lost 48-32. While losing is never fun, Dutchtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Parkview Baptist is ranked 45th).
Walker's win bumped their record up to 28-1. As for Dutchtown, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Everything went Walker's way against Dutchtown in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as Walker made off with a 66-40 win. Will Walker repeat their success, or does Dutchtown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
