If La Veta wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they should've done a better job of containing Abigail Anderson. The South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots put the hurt on the La Veta Redhawks with a sharp 57-31 victory on Friday thanks to Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 18 boards. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Gutierrez, who posted two points along with seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in blocks.

Several Redhawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marianna De La Cruz, who earned nine points and five boards. De La Cruz has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aspen Autry, who had ten points.

The win made it two in a row for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] and bumps their season record up to 11-9. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25 points. As for La Veta, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] will face off against Cheraw at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Veta, they will challenge Wiley at 2:00 p.m. on February 28th.
