Basketball Recap: Mountain Pointe Piles Up the Points Against Horizon

Mountain Pointe waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Horizon Huskies 75-45. This was a revenge game for the Pride: when they faced off against the Huskies back in January, they had to take a 64-62 loss.

Mountain Pointe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcus Isaac led the charge by going 5 of 9 to rack up 12 points and six boards. Isaac is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Jayvein Moody was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Mountain Pointe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Ethan Hayes and Ryan Milner certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hayes went 6 for 13 en route to 19 points and three blocks, while Milner posted ten points. That's the most blocks Hayes has posted since back in November of 2024.

Mountain Pointe pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points over those games. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Coming up, Mountain Pointe will take on Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Pointe is facing Desert Mountain at the right time seeing as Desert Mountain is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Horizon, they will square off against Notre Dame Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
