Softball Recap: Loyola Academy's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Loyola Academy hadn't done well against Carmel recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Ramblers walked away with a 7-2 win over the Corsairs. The victory was familiar territory for the Ramblers, who have now won six matches in a row.

The team relied heavily on Gwen Coleman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilia Bartholomew, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Loyola Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Loyola Academy pushed their record up to 12-15 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Carmel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-8.

Loyola Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-0 win against New Trier on the 17th. As for Carmel, they have also already played their next match, a 13-8 defeat against Joliet Catholic on the 17th.
