Soccer Game Preview: University vs. Buckhannon-Upshur

The University Hawks will head out to square off against the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

University fell victim to Mountain Ridge and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Miners.

Meanwhile, Buckhannon-Upshur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Bridgeport. That's two games in a row now that Buckhannon-Upshur have lost by just one goal.

University's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

University was able to grind out a solid victory over Buckhannon-Upshur in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
