Basketball Recap: Dayton Takes a Loss

Dayton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat. They took a blow against the Churchill County Greenwave, falling 48-20. While losing is never fun, the Dust Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Greenwave are ranked 12th).

Brooke Grasso and Aileen Hernandez certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Grasso posted seven points and five rebounds, while Hernandez scored a point. Those seven points gave Grasso a new career-high.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Churchill County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kortnie B. Simper, who earned 11 points. Another player making a difference was Karlie J. Simper, who put up four points and seven steals.

Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Churchill County, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

Dayton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-11 defeat against Lowry on the 7th. As for Churchill County, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-29 victory against Fernley on the 7th.
