Recap: Robinson Rams vs. South County Stallions
The Robinson Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 65-42 defeat at the hands of South County. While losing is never fun, Robinson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while South County is ranked 91st).
Despite the loss, Robinson still got an impressive performance from Scott Van antwerp, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Matteen Rahim, who scored seven points.
Robinson has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for South County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.
Robinson will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Springfield at 7:30 p.m. West Springfield and Robinson are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for South County, they will head out on the road to face off against Alexandria City at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Alexandria City is on a five-game streak of home wins, South County a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
