Softball Game Preview: Conner Cougars vs. Scott Eagles

The Conner Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Scott Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Conner has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Conner didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Brossart and fell 5-4. The loss put an end to the Cougars' undefeated start to the season.

Conner saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Santiago, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Kayla Ortiz was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Scott, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Beechwood by a score of 10-6 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won nine in a row.

Scott let Emory Sullivan and Rylee Gribble run wild. Sullivan went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Gribble went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The win got Scott back to even at 1-1. As for Conner, they now have a losing record of 0-1-2.

Conner couldn't quite get it done against Scott in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 as they fell 9-6. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
