Softball Recap: Leetonia Comes Up Short

Leetonia extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 30 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the East Palestine Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.

Leetonia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Ellis-Russell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Payton Gray also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for East Palestine, their record now sits at 7-8. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

On East Palestine's side, Kennedy Andre made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Andre has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.

In other batting news, Cami Kridler was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Taylor Foster, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Palestine beat Leetonia by a score of 16-6 on Wednesday.
