Softball Recap: Fayetteville-Perry Takes a Loss

Fayetteville-Perry dropped their record down to 10-9 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Tri-Village Patriots, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rockets have suffered since March 22nd.

Addie Rugenstein was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Carlier, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Tri-Village, the win keeps they at an undefeated 25-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.2 runs this season.

On Tri-Village's side, Elizabeth Poling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits. Poling has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Greer, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three doubles. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Tai Mize was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

While Fayetteville-Perry had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
