Volleyball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Bishop O'Dowd Dragons

Encinal hasn't had much luck against Bishop O'Dowd recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jets will venture away from home to face off against the Dragons at 5:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Encinal turned things around against Westmoor on Wednesday. They blew past the Rams 3-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-17, 25-22.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bishop O'Dowd and Berkeley meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Dragons walked away with a 3-1 win over the Yellowjackets.

Bishop O'Dowd walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-8, 17-25, 25-20.

Bishop O'Dowd now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Encinal, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Encinal came up short against Bishop O'Dowd when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Jets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
