Baseball Recap: Matanzas Takes a Loss

Matanzas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pine Ridge Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Paul Trettner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that he scored this season. Wiley Connor was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Matanzas' record is now 0-7. As for Pine Ridge, the win got them back to even at 2-2-2.
