Basketball Recap: Jeff Davis Takes a Loss

Jeff Davis lost against Fitzgerald back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Jeff Davis Yellowjackets were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jeff Davis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Latrell Sellers, who posted 13 points. The dominant performance also gave Sellers a new career-high in blocks (two). Marigus Sampson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Jeff Davis' loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Fitzgerald, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-4.

Jeff Davis will welcome Worth County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Jeff Davis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. As for Fitzgerald, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thomasville at 7:30 p.m.
