Basketball Recap: Tarik Sesay's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alexandria City over West Potomac

Alexandria City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They fell 72-61 to the West Potomac Wolverines. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tarik Sesay, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points and three blocks. Those 18 points gave Sesay a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Corde Byrd, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Alexandria City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for West Potomac, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-7.

Alexandria City will square off against Lake Braddock at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Potomac, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-46 win against Fairfax on the 13th.
