Rancho Mirage won the last time they faced Xavier Prep and things went their way on Thursday too. The Rancho Mirage Rattlers had just enough and edged out the Xavier Prep Saints 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Rattlers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Gael Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rancho Mirage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kobee Finnikin, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Rancho Mirage pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Xavier Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
