Volleyball Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Charlotte Trojans
After both having extra time off, the Utopia Buffaloes and the Charlotte Trojans will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Utopia's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Charlotte has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Utopia narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Dilley 3-2.
Utopia was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (99-96), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Charlotte entered their matchup against Center Point on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Charlotte fell just short of Center Point by a score of 3-2.
Charlotte took Center Point into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. After all that action, the final score was 19-25, 25-16, 25-17, 23-25, 16-14.
Utopia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Charlotte, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
