Baseball Game Preview: McMinn Central Chargers vs. Meigs County Tigers

For the second straight game, McMinn Central will face off against Meigs County. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McMinn Central will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

If McMinn Central beats Meigs County with five runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Chargers beat the Tigers on Monday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1.

Tyler Oaks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Oaks was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).

In other batting news, Bryce Hammond was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Henry Woods was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

McMinn Central pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Meigs County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 14-4 record.
