Basketball Recap: Banquete Find Success

Banquete had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 60-59 win over the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their 28-point performance the game before.

Falfurrias' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriel Cantu, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was JB Barrera, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Banquete's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-7. As for Falfurrias, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-10 record this season.

Banquete has already played their next matchup (against San Diego), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Falfurrias will square off against Orange Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Falfurrias is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
