The Somerset Bulldogs will face off against the Fredericksburg Billies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
On Friday, Somerset blew past John F. Kennedy, posting a 49-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Somerset got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Malakai Iverson out in front who picked up 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Iverson is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Flores, who threw for 100 yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fredericksburg). They blew past John F. Kennedy 62-0 last Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Billies as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Somerset better keep an eye on Aaron Cantu. He was instrumental in Fredericksburg's win, rushing for 184 yards and four scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Cantu a new career-high. Cody Helmers was another key rusher, rushing for 54 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Fredericksburg proved: they limited John F. Kennedy to a paltry 1.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Austin Greene for the heroic effort on defense: he. Fredericksburg's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.68 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 4.83 on average over their last three games.
Fredericksburg's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Somerset, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Somerset has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 153.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fredericksburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 167.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Somerset was able to grind out a solid win over Fredericksburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 35-28. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cantu, who rushed for 181 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Bulldogs still be able to contain Cantu? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
