Baseball Game Preview: Franklin County Eagles vs. Liberty Christian Bulldogs

The Franklin County Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Liberty Christian Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Franklin County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Northside on Tuesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 13-2.

Liberty Christian never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Amherst County on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Landon Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Torres, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those triples were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reid Fanney, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Liberty Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Liberty Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Franklin County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
