Baseball Game Preview: Anderson County Mavericks vs. Seymour Eagles

Anderson County is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Seymour is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mavericks will welcome the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Anderson County let South-Doyle stack seven runs on them in the third inning on Wednesday but luckily Anderson County prevailed anyway. The Mavericks came out on top against the Cherokees by a score of 11-7.

Daniel Unthank and Levi Skeen did most of the damage at the plate: Unthank went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Skeen went 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Unthank has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Harris, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Seymour duked it out with Fulton on Tuesday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Falcons.

Seymour let Elijah Miller and Braylon Williams run wild. Miller went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Williams went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Corbin Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.

Anderson County's victory bumped their record up to 21-13. As for Seymour, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.

Anderson County skirted past Seymour 2-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
