Soccer Game Preview: Joplin vs. Central

The Joplin Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Central Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Joplin took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Central won against West Plains on Thursday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Monday. The Bulldogs came out on top in a nail-biter against Carthage, sneaking past 2-1. That's two games straight that Central have won by just one goal.

Joplin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Joplin was able to grind out a solid win over Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
