Basketball Game Preview: Kanab Cowboys vs. San Juan Broncos

Kanab is a perfect 6-0 against San Juan since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Kanab Cowboys will be playing in front of their home fans against the San Juan Broncos at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

San Juan will be up against a hot Kanab squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Kanab really took it to Millard for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-41 win. The Cowboys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Kanab can attribute much of their success to Rylee Little, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds, and Savannah Bateman, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The match was Little's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Sidney Dayea, who posted seven points and six boards.

Kanab was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Millard's also-impressive total of 12.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and San Juan had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victor by a 50-26 margin over American Leadership Academy on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Broncos have posted since January 9th.

Kanab pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points over those games. As for San Juan, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-16.

Everything came up roses for Kanab against San Juan in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, as the team secured a 78-43 win. In that contest, Kanab amassed a halftime lead of 46-19, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
