Soccer Recap: McNeil Comes Up Short

The McNeil Mavericks didn't have quite enough to beat the Vandegrift Vipers on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, McNeil can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Vandegrift are ranked 50th).

McNeil has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6-3 record this season. As for Vandegrift, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McNeil will square off against rival Vista Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Vandegrift is set to challenge their familiar foe Cedar Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
