Baseball Game Preview: North Laurel Jaguars vs. South Laurel Cardinals

For the second straight game, North Laurel will face off against South Laurel. The Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Laurel has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while South Laurel will come in with five straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when North Laurel duked it out with South Laurel on Thursday. The Jaguars fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jaguars have suffered since May 14, 2024.

For South Laurel's part, Keaton Creech was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Creech has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Waylon Hensley was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reece Noble, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

South Laurel pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for North Laurel, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
