Softball Recap: Artesia Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Artesia entered their tilt with Roswell on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Coyotes get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-1 on Saturday.

Not much got past Katrin Marquez, who gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Roswell off the board. Marquez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Artesia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Montoya, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Montoya has posted since back in March. Kinsley Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Artesia's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Roswell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Artesia and Roswell will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bulldogs will face off against rival Goddard at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Roswell is set to take on their familiar foe Hobbs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
