Preview: Shelter Island Islanders vs. Bridgehampton Killer Bees
Shelter Island is 2-8 against Bridgehampton since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Shelter Island Islanders will head out on the road to challenge the Bridgehampton Killer Bees at 6:00 p.m. Shelter Island has now lost nine straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since January 12.
Last Saturday, Shelter Island was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-30 to Ross.
Shelter Island's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Evan Weslek, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Harrison Weslek who scored ten points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Weslek grabbed two or more steals.
Meanwhile, Bridgehampton unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak two weeks ago. They fell 69-58 to Smithtown Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Shelter Island dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bridgehampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Shelter Island might still be hurting after the 65-44 defeat they got from Bridgehampton in their previous meeting back in January. Can Shelter Island avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
