Nixa is a perfect 10-0 against Glendale since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will challenge the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Nixa is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
Nixa is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Ozark, who was ranked third at the time (Nixa was ranked seventh). The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2.
Nixa took Ozark into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 15-10.
Meanwhile, Glendale hadn't done well against Lebanon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Falcons walked away with a 3-1 win over the Yellowjackets.
Glendale had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-18.
Nixa better focus on containing Aubree Bohannon and Kensie Miner as the pair were huge in Glendale's win. Bohannon had four aces and three digs, while Miner had 11 digs. What's more, Bohannon racked up 20 assists, the most she's had over her last 15 contests. Ivy Flinn also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Glendale was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matches.
Nixa's record now sits at 24-9. As for Glendale, their record is now 15-9-3.
Nixa took their victory against Glendale when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
