Baseball Game Preview: Bishop O'Connell Knights vs. The Heights

Bishop O'Connell has gone a perfect 8-0 against The Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will square off against The Heights at 4:30 p.m. Bishop O'Connell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.

Bishop O'Connell is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Yorktown, who was ranked 24th at the time (Bishop O'Connell was ranked 25th). The Knights came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 6-1 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Drew Markey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Bryant James was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Daggu Rana, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, The Heights came up short against Our Lady of Good Counsel on Saturday, falling 16-5.

The Heights' defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Bishop O'Connell, their victory bumped their record up to 15-5.

Everything went Bishop O'Connell's way against The Heights when the teams last played back in March, as Bishop O'Connell made off with a 21-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
