Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Marauders vs. Carmel Greyhounds
Mt. Vernon fell victim to Carmel and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Carmel Greyhounds by a score of 2-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mt. Vernon of the 9-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

On Carmel's side, Chelsea Bennett looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. On the hitting side, Carmel's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Goddard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Carmel, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
