Make it eight blowout wins for the Gaston Day Spartans this season. Everything went their way against Metrolina Christian Academy on Tuesday as Gaston Day made off with a 68-48 victory. Given Gaston Day's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Metrolina Christian Academy is ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gaston Day's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Fields, who scored 11 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deshawn Coulter, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Gaston Day is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-12.
Gaston Day will look to defend their home court on Friday against SouthLake Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. Metrolina Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Corvian Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th.
