Basketball Recap: Liberty Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Liberty Christian Academy lost against Christ the Cornerstone Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Liberty Christian Academy Knights fell 52-39 to the Christ the Cornerstone Academy Defenders. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 576th, while the Defenders are ranked 197th).

When it comes to explaining why Liberty Christian Academy lost, don't look at Bryan Bunnells. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Bunnells a new career-high.

It was another big night for Will Jackson, who went 11 of 16 en route to 25 points and five rebounds for Christ the Cornerstone Academy. The contest was Jackson's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Haywood, who earned 11 points.

Liberty Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Antioch Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Cornerstone Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
