Volleyball Recap: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Palm Harbor University Hurricanes

If St. Petersburg was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Hollins on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Green Devils took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-11.

St. Petersburg's offense was headlined by Reyne Szabla and Abigail Buffington, who picked up 14 kills apiece. They got some help from Annika Xenakis and her 36 assists. Finally, Miley Moore kept St. Petersburg's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

St. Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Palm Harbor University, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

St. Petersburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Largo on the 9th. As for Palm Harbor University, after both having extra time off, they and Strawberry Crest will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hurricanes are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
