Basketball Game Preview: Monrovia Bulldogs vs. Park Tudor Panthers

The Monrovia Bulldogs will challenge the Park Tudor Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monrovia is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Thursday, Monrovia got the win against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial by a conclusive 67-43. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season.

Monrovia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emery Newlin led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on ten points, 12 assists, and nine steals. Those 12 assists gave Newlin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Willow Daly, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 13 points along with five boards and four steals.

Newlin wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Monrovia was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Scecina Memorial only racked up 11 assists.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Park Tudor took on Indianapolis Crispus Attucks on Thursday. Park Tudor was dealt a 63-34 defeat at the hands of Indianapolis Crispus Attucks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Tigers since January 3, 2015.

Monrovia's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Park Tudor, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Monrovia came up short against Park Tudor when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 55-50. Can Monrovia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
