Basketball Game Preview: Downtown Doral Dolphins vs. Carol City Chiefs

The Downtown Doral Dolphins will face off against the Carol City Chiefs on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Downtown Doral is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 59-48 win over Miami Springs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dolphins.

Downtown Doral had a senior duo take command as Giancarlo Romero dropped a double-double on 19 points and 21 boards and Juan Castro posted 20 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Castro has scored at least a third of Downtown Doral's points. Another player making a difference was Paolo Guerrero, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carol City). They had just enough and edged Monsignor Pace out 94-92.

Carol City has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Downtown Doral, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Downtown Doral might still be hurting after the 73-52 loss they got from Carol City when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Downtown Doral avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
