Volleyball Recap: Scotus Shamrocks vs. Battle Creek Braves

If Scotus was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Wakefield on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shamrocks fell just short of the Battle Creek Braves by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Shamrocks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Braves earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Scotus took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-15, 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-6.

Lola Doerneman paced Scotus' offense, picking up 15 kills. Doerneman got some help from Bella Hutchinson and her 43 assists. Brooke Krienke and Mya Langan kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Jaidyn Smutny had a dynamite game For Battle Creek., getting 19 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Smutny has posted over her last five matches.

Scotus has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season. As for Battle Creek, their win bumped their record up to 19-12.

Scotus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Battle Creek, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Wayne on the 29th.
