Baseball Recap: Pen Argyl Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Pen Argyl, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Notre Dame Spartans on Thursday as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The Green Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 22-4).

Lucas Lerch and Cayden Vishnesky did most of the damage at the plate: Lerch went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Vishnesky went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Vishnesky is becoming a predictor of Pen Argyl's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-6-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Nick Haros, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Pen Argyl pushed their record up to 7-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pen Argyl will take on Moravian Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Notre Dame, they will face off against North Warren Regional at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.4 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
