Softball Game Preview: North Decatur Chargers vs. Milan Indians

The North Decatur Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Milan Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Decatur has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hauser hit North Decatur with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers came up short against the Jets, falling 15-3. The Chargers have struggled against the Jets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

North Decatur saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Meister, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Milan unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Simon Kenton.

Kynadee Bode was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3.

Milan's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for North Decatur, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. North Decatur hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

North Decatur might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Milan in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
