Basketball Game Preview: Seymour Owls vs. Shelbyville Golden Bears

The Seymour Owls will take on the Shelbyville Golden Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Seymour strolled past Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 41-26. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Owls.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville hadn't done well against Delta recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Shelbyville came out on top against Delta by a score of 48-41.

Shelbyville's win came from a few key players Seymour will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mar Nicholson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in February of 2024. Caden Claxton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Seymour's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Shelbyville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Seymour beat Shelbyville 42-32 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Seymour have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shelbyville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
