Basketball Recap: Brentwood Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Brentwood couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Fellowship Christian Academy Lancers on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 62-55 loss back in January.

Despite the loss, Brentwood saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tristan Robinson posted 23 points. Another player making a difference was Baylor Cobb, who put up eight points.

Central Fellowship Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaiden Nelson, who earned 21 points. That's the most points Nelson has posted since back in November of 2024. Shaheem Barbosa was another key player, putting up 21 points.

Brentwood's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Brentwood has already played their next game, a 64-62 win against Gatewood on the 22nd. As for Central Fellowship Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 67-62 loss against Augusta Prep Day on the 22nd.
