Baseball Game Preview: Mater Dei Knights vs. Belleville West Maroons

The Mater Dei Knights will challenge the Belleville West Maroons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Belleville West took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mater Dei, who comes in off a win.

Mater Dei is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over Okawville.

Avery Strader was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Winkeler, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Mater Dei always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Okawville only posted an OBP of .200.

Belleville West had taken Quincy down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Belleville West took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quincy. The Maroons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Belleville West saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Fournie, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
